The New York Times had an article about new methods being used in looking at language in texts; the researchers are taking a quantitative approach and analyzing texts digitally. Relying on text scans, they looked at the frequency words appeared during the Victorian era. I thought it interesting that "Christian" falls over time while "science" rises in frequency.
